Description
How does pipe lining Work?
The technology depends on a resin that is mixed onsite and cures in less than one hour. A fiberglass material is used to absorb the resin then it is blasted into the pipe using pressurized air. Once the resin dries the material is formed inside the pipe effectively closing all connections and/or penetrations of roots in the pipe. The pictures on this page show what the pipe looks like inside the pipe after the sewer liner has been installed.
Is lining a city approved method of repair?
In southern California there are hundreds of cities. Each city has their own rules and regulations. Most cities are aware and have approved lining and the materials used in this area. There are two major departments; Department of Building and Safety and Department of Public Works. These two departments have approved different liners for their purposes. We at Angel Plumbers are fairly well informed about the city’s requirements and work closely with them to stay up to date. All resins used at Angel Plumbers are approved.
Are there any drawbacks?
Every pipe is individually inspected for the viability of installation. Some pipes have incurred too much damage and can not be lined. In such cases there are other options such as Pipe bursting to make the repair. If the line is installed in a lineable pipe the installation has no drawbacks. If the line is installed in a pipe that was not cleaned properly or was not properly diagnosed then roots can overtake the liner and damage the entire installation. Experience by the installer in recognizing drawbacks is key to a good installation.
