Water Leaks Repair
Water leaks are one of the most down right annoying problems that most property owners will ever encounter. Even the smallest pin hoes in your water pipes can lead to the invasion of dangerous mold and mildew spores. Larger breaks, cracks, and leaks ruin walls, floors, and ceilings, which are expensive to replace. They can also cause floods that destroy valuable personal property, treasured memories, office equipment and supplies, products on store shelves, and other items and materials being stored in warehouses and manufacturing facilities.
The question remains, why is this problem happening to so many property owners across the country? The answer is a simple one. Residential, commercial, and industrial buildings that were constructed over forty years ago are reaching the end of their water pipe life cycles. As if that weren’t bad enough news for a vast amount of property owners, access to repair or even replace the water pipes is often difficult. They are typically restricted, hidden, and covered over with interior walls, floors, and ceilings. In the not too distant past the only way to reach them was to demolish the walls, floors, and ceilings.
The demolition method causes an absolute mess and a severe amount of down time. It is also quite expensive to repair and replace all of the demolished areas. For example, the material costs of a new wood floor are enough to send a shiver down your spine, not to mention the pricey labor involved to complete the project. When all is said and done a great deal of owners must take out a second mortgage on the property in order to pay for the water pipe and related repairs. The good news is that approximately fifteen years ago a forward thinking person invented an advanced plumbing technology that is know known as water pipe lining.
This high-tech procedure does not require extensive demolition in order to access the water pipes for repair or replacement. Instead a small access hole is used to spray a specially formulated wet epoxy material that thoroughly lines all of the interior surfaces of the water pipes. The epoxy dries (or cures in place from a more technical standpoint) within a few hours. It seals any pinhole-sized leaks, larger breaks or cracks within the water pipeline, and the joints that attach one pipe to the next. In addition, the cured in place epoxy lining is perfectly safe for your drinking water to travel through on a daily basis.
It will not chip or wear away and prevents future breaks, cracks, and leaks from occurring. Typically speaking, water leak repair through the use of epoxy lining is considerably less expensive. Water pipes are manufactured out of copper, which is a semi-precious metal that has spiked in price in recent years. In fact, copper is so expensive that it is no longer used in pennies. If the Federal Government realizes that it is too expensive to make pennies from copper than why should you have the existing copper ripped from your property and replaced with new copper?
It simply does not make sense from a financial standpoint. Not to mention that plumbing contractors that make repairs by using the demolition method may only be temporarily fixing the problem. Patching the water pipes certainly is not a permanent solution. By the time you pay for the demolition and patch work on the pipes and repair the walls, floors, or ceilings, it ends up costing a lot more than water pipe lining process. It goes without saying that water pipe lining is significantly less expensive than replacing the network of copper water pipes. Time equals money as well.
Most water pipe lining jobs can be completed in as little as a day. It takes a lot longer to patch the problem, and can be weeks on end to completely replace the pipes. That is a humongous inconvenience for homeowners. Imagine not being able to turn on any water for two weeks? Most people end up vacating the house until the job is complete. If you are not lucky enough to have a relative or friend to stay with, it costs even more money out of pocket to rent a hotel or other accommodations.
If you own a business, two weeks equals a tremendous and costly amount of downtime. If you are a real estate investor, you must provide your tenants with alternative housing, office, warehouse, or factory space during those two weeks. Pipe lining is by far the best way to repair water leaks without the expensive and hassle of more traditional methods.
